Autopsies are not conducted at our facility, yet your carefulness and thorough understanding of pathology will be pivotal in refining treatment strategies and enhancing patient health. Your leadership will shine as you oversee area labs and perform clinical case assessments, particularly for hematology specimens, demonstrating your versatility and proficiency in laboratory management.

With up-to-date clinical experience and a robust foundation in both surgical pathology and laboratory diagnostics, you are perfectly positioned for success. Leveraging your profound knowledge, you will accurately diagnose a wide array of conditions in approximately 8,500 cases each year, spanning surgical and cytological pathology. Your specialization in transfusion medicine will be paramount in maintaining the highest standard of patient care.

The KBRH pathology lab serves as the central hub for numerous smaller communities, healthcare centres, and testing locations across the West Kootenay region. By joining the comprehensive, integrated Interior Health Laboratory, you’ll become part of a progressive and stable, multi-site diagnostic system dedicated to serving patients of BC’s Southern Interior.

You’ll engage in daily quality assurance teleconferences throughout Interior Health. These meetings allow for the sharing of intriguing and challenging cases, promoting continuous learning and professional growth. When faced with complex scenarios, you’ll have access to a range of consultative resources, both within the organization and beyond, including the opportunity to consult with academic medical centres in Vancouver.

This job posting is for a position covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination order, and selected applicant(s) must comply with the requirements of the order.

Call Schedule:

Hours of work: We want you to love life in and outside work, and we're committed to helping you achieve that perfect balance.
On call requirements: You can expect a balanced call schedule with plenty of time between to recharge.

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

Experience the peace of mind that comes with a guaranteed income of $384,477 through an APP clinical service contract, along with MOCAP level 3, prorated for part-time positions.


RSA Incentives

Recruitment incentive: $15,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time
Relocation: $9,000 if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada
Fee premium: 11.48%
Annual retention fee: $17,421
RCME funding: $600 for up to 2 years in Trail, $3,600 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $6,600 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds.

The above numbers are based on a full-time position and may be prorated for physicians working less than full time. Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
