Excellent opportunities for Child and Youth Psychiatrists looking to practice in a welcoming community setting where the lifestyle opportunities are endless! Two positions available to come and join us at Penticton Regional Hospital!

You will be part of our dedicated team of 7 psychiatrists providing the most up to date, comprehensive, quality client centred care to individuals and their families. The 16 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU) offers Acute Mental Health and Substance Use services in a safe, secure and accessible facility for the South Okanagan region. In addition to Inpatient services, our well established integrated Adult Mental Health programs include Short Term Counseling, Community Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, Physical Activation, Anxiety and Depression, DBT groups, as well as Seniors Mental Health and Rural Outreach. Additionally, our community child and youth mental health program features individual counselling, group counselling, DBT program and integrated psychiatric services. In addition, in this position you have the opportunity to teach medical students and participate in quality improvement and program development activities. In addition to child and youth psychiatry, this position may also be involved with general psychiatry.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Full time
On call requirements: 1:5-6 and rotating weekends

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

$300,000-$400,000, plus MOCAP level 2

Applicable for 1.0 FTE positions, $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location (with eligible receipts).

Penticton Regional Hospital:

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Interior Health Authority responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining a complement of excellent medical and surgical specialists with available on site Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine and Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a ten-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

In April 2019, PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two, completed in December 2021, includes the full renovation and expansion of the PRH Emergency Department including 2 new trauma bays, 12 acute care beds, 14 streaming rooms and chairs along with 2 consult rooms and 2 seclusion rooms.
