Practice Details:

The Penticton Regional Hospital, is seeking a General Pathologist (AP/CP) to complete our 4.8FTE pathology team. Our group performs approximately 10,000 (17,000 LFE) surgical pathology cases/year, 100 bone marrow biopsies/year; 500 cytopathology cases/year, and 50 autopsy cases/year, quality assurance activities, and teaching of medical and laboratory students. Most services are covered under the provincial contract but additional fee for service billings are possible for bone marrows and coroner autopsies. In conjunction with a diverse, well-rounded practice our group holds very close ties to the local physicians and surgical community we meet as consultants and are an integral part of the larger diagnostic team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced general pathologist, extra experience in dermatology, breast, or GI is an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships with the hospital and laboratory staff are also imperative.

Penticton Regional Hospital:

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Interior Health Authority responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining a complement of excellent medical and surgical specialists with available on site Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine and Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a ten-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

In April 2019, PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two, completed in December 2021, includes the full renovation and expansion of the PRH Emergency Department including 2 new trauma bays, 12 acute care beds, 14 streaming rooms and chairs along with 2 consult rooms and 2 seclusion rooms.
