Practice Details:

Are you ready to become an integral part of our dynamic healthcare team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital as a dedicated rheumatologist? Here, your expertise can have a profound impact on those battling rheumatic diseases. We’re seeking a compassionate and skilled rheumatologist to deliver expert care to individuals with various rheumatologic conditions.

You’ll assume a pivotal role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a diverse range of rheumatic ailments, ensuring that patients receive the utmost quality of care. In the past, two local internists provided this service. With the area’s expansion, there’s now a growing need for a dedicated rheumatologist. As we embrace this new phase, the responsibilities of the practice are flexible, and your unique interests and priorities can influence the practice’s direction. The current team of internists, who have been delivering rheumatology services to the community, will offer strong support to ensure a seamless transition and promote a cooperative working environment.

In this role, you will diagnose and treat patients dealing with a spectrum of rheumatic diseases, ranging from rheumatoid arthritis and lupus to osteoarthritis and gout. By conducting detailed patient assessments, which include meticulous reviews of medical histories and thorough physical examinations, you’ll formulate precise diagnoses. Leveraging your expertise, you’ll design and implement comprehensive treatment strategies encompassing medication management, lifestyle adjustments, and other therapeutic interventions. You’ll interpret relevant diagnostic tests, such as imaging and laboratory analyses, to guide informed decision-making in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Your collaborative nature will shine as you work with diverse multidisciplinary teams, including fellow specialists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists. You’ll provide holistic patient care by fostering a team-based approach, ensuring that you address each aspect of a patient’s well-being. Your exceptional communication abilities will be essential as you engage with patients, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, discussing available treatment options, and presenting disease management strategies in an empathetic and easily understandable way.

As KBRH serves as a community training site for the UBC medical school, you’ll have a direct hand in shaping future rheumatologists as you mentor students and residents. The best part? You can effortlessly weave these enriching experiences into your schedule, ensuring a rewarding blend of professional growth and contribution to the field of medicine.
