Are you looking to join an established medical practice in a rural setting? Perhaps you AND a colleague would like to set up practices at the same clinic. Or, maybe you’re team looking to relocate, and work in the same clinic? Village Medical Clinic in 100 Mile House has a full time opportunity. This is a perfect time to come and build a substantial practice with a good future. One of the GP’s who is leaving with a large practice with future physicians nearing retirement. The area is growing as more and more people move here from other areas of the province, and there are many people seeking a physician.

The clinic, located in the heart of town, has a large patient waiting area, staff parking, 8 spacious consulting rooms, and 2 shared offices for desk work. Each consulting room is equipped with a computer and printer for the MedAccess EMR system. In addition, there is a procedure room with all instruments required for minor procedures including an autoclave. A great office staff including Office Manager, 2 MOA’s and a Receptionist will help you settle in, and support your administrative needs.

Overheads are shared and in keeping with practices of this size – approximately 25%.

In addition to clinic work, you would be required to provide service for approximately 6 twelve hour shifts per month at the 100 Mile Hospital emergency room, (located minutes from the clinic), as well as follow your own patients in hospital and residential care. Clinic colleagues cover each other’s patients when away. Currently, there is no anesthetist, and thus, obstetric services are offered in Williams Lake.

The hospital, in addition to ER, offers general medical and outpatient care, x-ray and laboratory services. All specialty services are available, some, 1 hr away in Williams Lake OR two hours away in Kamloops.

100 Mile House and the surrounding area offers a wide variety of lifestyle activities for all seasons including numerous hiking trails, mountain biking, lakes for swimming, boating, fishing. There is hunting, snow shoeing and XC skiing. Mt. Timothy ski hill is a very popular winter destination approximately an hour away. A card lock gym is a few minutes walk down the lane from the clinic, and if you’re hockey fans, there is a hockey arena (home of the 100 Mile Wranglers) as well as a curling rink. In summer, the 108 Resort boasts an excellent 18 hole golf course, and tennis courts. In addition, the town has a vibrant arts community, a performance theatre and an art gallery. There are numerous restaurants in and out of town, as well as several popular coffee shops, one of which is around the corner from the Clinic.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
  • Emergency experience
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Full Time
On call requirements: • 4-6 ER shifts/month

RSA Incentives

Rural Practice Program Incentives currently include:
Recruitment incentive: $20,000
Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
Fee Premium: 16.66%
Annual Retention: $25,282.74
Rural CME: max of $5720 /year after 4 years in practice
Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.
Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for loan forgiveness programs..
