You will play a vital part as a core member of our team at VJH, overseeing the general medical care of adults and collaborating on the management of surgical and psychiatric cases. You’ll find this role both stimulating and diverse in its case mix. It's important to note that this position does not involve coverage for Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, or ICU/code blue patients. Specialized departments on site include General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Anesthesia, Radiology, Urology, and Oncology.
Our team values excellent communication skills and teamwork, collaborating closely with fellow allied healthcare professionals and our local specialists. When advanced treatment is necessary, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating tertiary referrals to Kelowna. We rely on electronic physician documentation to ensure clear plans, smooth patient handovers, and efficient rounding.

Hours of work:
Day shifts go from 0800 to approximately 1730. You will typically care for 18-20 patients.
On call requirements:
Rest easy when you finish your day shift—our team keeps evening and overnight call separate. We work 1-2 evening/overnight shifts per month, starting at 1700 and ending at 0800. Payment for these shifts is 8 hours of APP rates, plus MOCAP thereafter.
Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income
As a full-time hospitalist, earn a guaranteed income of $336,168 under the APP clinical service contract, plus MOCAP level 2 for overnight call (from home) and extra premiums for evening and weekend shifts.
Additional Incentives
For a full-time position, we offer up to $9,000 in assistance if moving within BC, up to $12,000 within Canada, and up to $15,000 from outside Canada. Please note incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a 196-bed facility and a beacon of healthcare excellence in Vernon, British Columbia. Serving as the primary hospital in the North Okanagan region, VJH provides comprehensive acute care, along with advanced medical services and technology.
The unveiling of the Polson Tower marked a significant expansion, boosting outpatient services and introducing specialized units for maternity, pediatrics, intensive and coronary care. Subsequent growth saw the addition of medical inpatient facilities, a fifth operating theatre, and a sophisticated MRI. The hospital’s future looks even brighter with the planned construction of a 44 single-occupancy room psychiatric unit by 2029. This development aims to offer improved and personalized mental health resources.
Nearly 1,800 dedicated personnel cater to approximately 93,720 individuals, including those from the First Nations and Métis communities. VJH’s wide-ranging services, from emergency to surgery to rehabilitation, highlight a deep commitment to innovation, excellence, and compassionate care.
