Set amid sandstone canyons, rolling grasslands, and magnificent evergreen woods, Kamloops is a flourishing city of 100,000 with an energetic character set against a stunning natural setting.
With its name stemming from the Secwépemc Tk'emlúps, meaning “where the rivers meet,” Kamloops reflects the land's geography where the Thompson rivers converge. The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people have inhabited this region for millennia, nurturing a deep connection to their ancestral territory. Today, the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation continues their legacy, shaping Kamloops' cultural landscape.
Known for our welcoming spirit, our city has rightfully earned its moniker as the Tournament Capital of Canada, offering big city amenities including excellent eateries, unique shops and exceptional recreation facilities. With eight beautiful provincial parks and over 100 lakes nearby, our city offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking and camping. With mountain, parkland and desert fairways dotting the landscape here, we're fast becoming Canada's premier golf destination.
