Practice Details:

The Interior Health Cancer Care Network has been established to lead, coordinate, monitor, evaluate and improve the quality, consistency, sustainability and standardization of all Cancer Care services within the geographic boundaries of Interior Health. The Cancer Care Network collaborates with internal and external partners including BC Cancer, operational partners, medical staff and patients to provide regional direction to improve care.

The Medical Director is a new position and will provide key leadership within the Interior Health Clinical Operations portfolio. In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization and in partnership with the Network Director, Cancer Care, the Medical Director is co-responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Interior Health Cancer Care Network.

Strategically focused, the Interior Health Cancer Care Network is designed to collaboratively lead, promote, support and coordinate evidence informed improvements toward improving cancer outcomes for people living within the geographic boundaries of Interior Health.

In this collaborative leadership model, the Medical Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective partnerships throughout the health system (both internal and external) and to liaise between staff, physician and committees, in order to represent medical viewpoints and facilitate open communication.

Success of this role is dependent upon the provision of leadership and in particular engagement and partnership with BC Cancer related to the planning and coordination of cancer care services within the Interior Health region.

A key role will be to engage stakeholders, implement change and quality improvements, with a results driven focus.

This 0.40 FTE position can be based in any location within Interior Health. Some travel throughout the Health Authority is required, and the successful candidate must be comfortable working and leading virtually using ZOOM and other communication applications as necessary.

The ideal candidate may be a Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist, Surgical Oncologist or General Practitioner with Oncology certification.

Qualifications:
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Medical Practitioner with Oncology specialty experience and training Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
