Practice Details:

Enjoy working in a well‑run, established Stroke/Rehabilitation unit where neurologists collaborate with physiatrists and a dedicated unit MRP Hospitalist. In this position, you will have dedicated clinic space and administrative support in the Clinical Services Building (CSB), which opened in 2016. The CSB houses a modern electrophysiology lab for those interested in providing regional EMG, EEG, and/or polysomnography services. There is also an Urgent Neurology/Stroke Clinic for those interested in outreach work.

Subspecialty interests are an asset, particularly in MS, stroke, and EMG/EEG/PSG, but are not required. The current group includes physicians with certifications in neurophysiology, vascular neurology, and movement disorders.

Our tertiary care, UBC‑affiliated teaching hospital offers an excellent team of emergency physicians; five neurosurgeons (four active, one consulting); two vascular surgeons; a physiatrist; hospitalists; family physicians; general internists; intensivists; cardiologists; nephrologists; infectious disease specialists; radiologists; and other subspecialists who are a pleasure to work with.

RIH has a state‑of‑the‑art ICU, a recently renovated ER that has led the way in EMR documentation in BC, and newly developed Rapid Access Cardiology and Internal Medicine outpatient services that work alongside Neurology in the CSB.

Qualifications:
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Full time
On call requirements: Hospital on-call coverage is expected throughout the locum.

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

An income guarantee (IG) of $15,000 per 7‑day period is available until December 31, 2026. The IG is inclusive of all income sources, including MOCAP. If fewer than 7 days are worked, the IG will be prorated.
