Exciting opportunities for rural Family Practice Physicians in Williams Lake, BC! Come with a colleague as The Yorston clinic has room for two physicians. Opportunity for the next six months to come for a site visit with accommodations and travel expenses covered.

You can practice rural family medicine in a small, well established, collegial clinic alongside and with support from experienced family practice and specialist physicians. In addition to your clinical work, there are numerous opportunities to build the practice of your dreams which could include maternity, long term care, OR assists, oncology, palliative care, ER, and other areas of interest. The team support from the local surgeons, obstetricians, paediatrician, internist, and psychiatrist is outstanding.
Yorston Clinic can accommodate five full time physicians. It is located across the street from a pharmacy and just minutes to the hospital. The building also offers an addiction clinic, massage therapy, an acupuncture clinic, a chiropractor, and a foot care clinic.
The Cariboo Memorial Hospital is currently going through a major redevelopment and expansion to modernize spaces and services. Four new surgical services have been added for local options for surgical needs. The surgical services program includes, General Surgery, OBGYN, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, and Ophthalmology. Our Primary Care planning has flowed over 4 million dollars in the system to support the primary care teams.
You can end your work day by grabbing Sushi or Indian take-out and head out with your kayak or paddle board and enjoy one of the nearby lakes. The region is exquisitely beautiful and widely diverse. You can visit galleries, unique shops and eateries, enjoy the Stampede and explore the endless outdoor adventures and activities that are readily available year-round. Countless lakes offer boating and swimming in addition to the many fishing opportunities for anglers, trollers and fly- fishers alike. Well maintained biking trails are one of the Cariboo’s hidden treasures. Walking, hiking, and birdwatching along these trails are popular summer activities. Qualifications:
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Clinic is open 8:30-4:30 weekdays, but hours are flexible
On call requirements: Preference dependent; generally 1 on, 4 off

RSA Incentives

Rural incentives, at current posted rates, include:
Recruitment incentive: $15,000
Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
Retention fee premium: 12.32%
Retention flat fee: $18,696.48
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) fund: up to $4,840.per year by the 4th year in practice.

Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.

Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for loan forgiveness programs.


The Yorston Clinic:

The Yorston Clinic is a private clinic in downtown Williams Lake and is a 5 minute drive to the hospital. Clinic hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Working hours are flexible within these times. Billing is done in-house. EMR is Profile by Intrahealth. No evening or weekend hours required at the clinic. Cariboo Memorial Hospital is an Acute Care, 31-bed Hospital offering Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Rooms, Medical-Surgical and Obstetrical Units, Ambulatory Care Department, and stress testing. Other services include Lab and Diagnostic Imaging (including echo and CT scanning), Out-Patient Hemodialysis Unit, and a five-bed psychiatric crisis stabilization unit.  Visiting specialty service in Rheumatology and Ophthalmology specialists.
