The Vernon Jubilee Hospitalist program is looking for new locums! Come, check out this exciting opportunity, where you will enjoy being part of a dynamic, fun, and cohesive team, providing great specialty care, all while located in the beautiful North Okanagan.
The Hospitalist plays a valuable role on the core service team at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized adult patients, and for co-management of surgical, and psychiatric patients. Enjoy a stimulating practice with diverse case mix. This position does not include any coverage of Obstetrics/Gynaecology, Pediatrics, nor ICU/Code blue patients.
The Hospitalist is commonly faced with acutely ill patients and their families, so the role demands superior clinical and communication skills, and the ability to work with other members of the health care team. There is an essential interface with discharge planning experts, community resources and family physicians, which requires a high level of collaboration. Physician documentation is electronic to provide easy to read plans, smooth patient handovers, and improved rounding efficiency. The Vernon Jubilee Hospitalist team promotes a positive work culture by practicing our values of Efficiency, Adaptability, Integrity, Humour, and Harmony. Our ideal locums would also share our group’s core values.
The Hospitalist service is supported by a complement of specialty services including Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Urology and Oncology. Tertiary care referrals are made to Kelowna. The hospital also has a full complement of allied health care professionals on site.
Enjoy a schedule designed to promote work-life balance as well as flexibility for when workload surges arise. Dayshifts are 8.5 hours each from 0800 to 1630 hrs. Volumes average 15-18 patients per physician, per dayshift. Nightshifts are comprised of 8 hours on site, and then overnight call from home. Participation in overnight/after-hours call is mandatory. During hospital on site hours, provincial APP rates apply. Overnight call income is from MOCAP funding while at home, but FFS billing can be utilized if called in to assess patients. Each scheduled run is 7 day shifts, followed by 1 night shift per month, but scheduling is flexible with locum availability.
