Practice Details:

Excellent opportunity for a General Neurologist to join the medical team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) in Trail. This is an office based practice with available space to join IM office or in collaboration with other specialties. This position would provide general neurology service with a combination of in- patient consultation and clinic work.
The KBRH provides a wide variety of services including MRI and access to EEGs and EMGs.
The hospital serves the entire Kootenay Boundary region with an EMG clinic in Nelson; EEG clinic in Castlegar and provides patient care from Grand Forks, Arrow Lakes, Castlegar and Nelson.

The Neurology department is fully supported by a robust acute stroke Neurology service run out of the Kelowna General Hospital. The collaboration includes weekly stroke neurology rounds with the team in Kelowna.
The successful candidate could choose an area in which to focus, including movement disorders, seizures etc or practice full general neurology. There is no call obligation. There would be opportunity to develop a TIA clinic potentially, if interested.
The collaboration in the hospital is a wide spectrum and includes both ICC and Family Practice residency programs. As an added bonus, you can enjoy the rewards of being actively involved in educating UBC medical students and residents. There is a well established ICC and Family Practices residency program.

Estimated Gross Income

$350,000 to $400,000 range


RSA Incentives

Recruitment incentive: $15,000(based on full time)
Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
Retention fee premium: 11.20%
Retention flat fee: $12,892.80 annually
CME funding: Up to 2 years $600, in 3rd & 4th year $3,600, after 4 years $6,600

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital:

The largest diagnostic and acute care hospital in the West Kootenays, the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) is a 75-bed full service regional hospital serving 80,000 people in the Kootenay Boundary region.  KBRH offers core specialist physician services including 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Level 2 Laboratory, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Acute and Obstetrical Care, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Chemotherapy and advanced diagnostic services. KBRH is the regional base for the 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) consisting of dedicated critical care transport nurses, and as required, respiratory therapists, who respond to support rural and remote clinicians in the transport and management of critically ill and injured patients. Transport is supported by BC Ambulance Services (BCAS) for major medical care with transfer to Kelowna that is 313 kilometers from Trail.
