Practice Details:

Fantastic opportunity for a specialist in Clinical Immunology & Allergy to practice in the beautiful, sunny Okanagan region providing outpatient adult and pediatric services, as well as inpatient consultative care at Kelowna General Hospital. We are looking for a specialist with an interest in immunodeficiency and immunodysregulation.

The Okanagan region is a referral center serving a community of over 800,000 people. This area of southern BC offers year round healthy lifestyle with lakes, mountains, ski hills, and world class wineries. There are many public and private primary schools, as well the University of BC Okanagan, Okanagan College, and various smaller colleges.

In addition, the immunologist/allergist has the opportunity to be associated with the Southern Medical Program here in Kelowna, as well as being a part of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at UBC.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Kelowna General Hospital:

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health, and is the region’s main referral centre, offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH has become one of BC’s leading healthcare centres.

Home to the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre, the IHSC is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland, and KGH’s principal surgical site. It features 12 specialized ORs created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears, Nose, and Throat, Orthopedics, General, and Trauma surgeries. Of these, 2 ORs are dedicated to Cardiac Surgery. Within the IHSC, KGH also has a modern maternity ward and an adjacent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Our state-of-the-art Centennial Building boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, new medical inpatient units, modern operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. Additional facilities include a dedicated pediatric ward, as well as adolescent and adult psychiatry units. The Dr. Walter Anderson Building houses enhanced laboratory and clinical departments, supporting advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC and has an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School.
