This position is a 5 year term renewable by mutual agreement between the agency and the individual up to a maximum of 10 years. Previous administration experience is preferred. The successful applicant will be expected provide 2.5 days per week working in the role of KGH Chief of Staff.

As the Site Chief of Staff you will be expected to be a physician administrator and medical leader who works to achieve a collaborative relationship between physicians and administration in Interior Health based on our organizational culture and its objectives. This role will include supporting a high functioning tertiary hospital in continuous quality improvement, supporting departments in recruitment credentialing and privileging, and leading physician engagement and development throughout the site. You will have the opportunity to work with an enthusiastic team of physician and operational leaders in developing and implementing new programs serving the needs of the population of Kelowna and Interior Health

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. Kelowna General Hospital is home to the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC is Kelowna General Hospital’s principal surgical site and features; 12 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac Surgery. Our state of the art Centennial Building also recently opened and boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, modern operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC. With the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre and new medical inpatient units in the Centennial Building, dedicated psychiatry units for youth and adults, a modern maternity ward, enhanced laboratory and clinical departments in the new Dr. Walter Anderson Building, and an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the University of British Columbia Medical School, KGH has become one of BC’s leading healthcare centres. The largest and liveliest lakeshore community in the Okanagan, Kelowna is well-known as a year round outdoor playground.
