The newly opened Ashcroft Urgent and Primary Care Centre is looking for a Physician Lead to support this exciting new centre!

The Physician Lead would be responsible for supporting the Centre in areas of Quality, Physician Resource Planning and Compensation, Supervision and Performance, and Education. Some specific responsibilities include supporting collaboration, promoting a physician quality culture by developing professional standards, protocols, and policies for appropriate medical care. With an emphasis on Team-Based Care, the Physician Lead, in collaboration with IHA operations, will ensure that there is oversight of medical care, including the provision of appropriate health examinations and continuity of care as required, while also assisting with process improvement initiatives.

You would also assist Physician Recruitment and Medical Affairs to recruit and retain physicians at the UPCC and develop appropriate physician contracts. The UPCC group will be fully responsible for their own scheduling, the Physician Lead will be expected to oversee the scheduling of physicians, including participation in the development of an after-hours coverage system. Supervision and Performance responsibilities include coordinating and attending regular UPCC physician meetings with the site Manager and providing the physician's perspective including but not limited to, clinic operational meetings, team development sessions, clinical educational opportunities, etc. NP's will be part of this team, including an NP lead, while this role will provide additional support in the way of providing advice and assisting in performance evaluations when necessary.

You will also promote and advocate for effective educational policies, goals and objectives, and CME activities that contribute to the enhancement of physicians’ and NP skills in Primary Care. It will be an asset for candidates to have experience with Team-based care.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Candidate will be considered if eligible for provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia CMPA Coverage is Mandatory
