When you become a part of our hospitalist team at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH), you'll be a key player in delivering unparalleled patient care in our dynamic healthcare environment. Join our close-knit group of 15 dedicated and empathetic professionals, where your commitment is essential in providing advanced, comprehensive, and patient-centred care. Your expertise in hospital-based medical care will encompass a wide range of cases, from complex medical conditions to surgical patients and specialized care needs.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of medical care, tending to a wide spectrum of patient needs. From managing acute ailments to chronic conditions, you'll be the key physician during their hospital stay, creating intricate treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic insights, prescribing medications, and making crucial medical decisions. Collaboration is key here, as you'll work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, specialists, surgeons, and allied healthcare professionals, all aimed at providing comprehensive patient care. Navigating complex medical situations, often involving multiple comorbidities, will be your expertise, vital for making timely decisions during critical emergencies. Your day to day will include these essential tasks.

Your active participation in transitioning patients through various care phases, engagement in initiatives that uplift care quality, involvement in medical education endeavours, and steadfast advocacy for patients' medical needs. These activities will collectively enhance the overall patient care quality and continuity of their healthcare journey. This job posting is for a position covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination order, and selected applicant(s) must comply with the requirements of the order.

Qualifications:
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Working a standard 8-hour shift, you'll engage with an average of 12–16 inpatients per rotation.
On call requirements: You’ll contribute to after-hours call duties, which are a mandatory aspect of our practice.

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

Experience the peace of mind that comes with a guaranteed income of $314,795 through an APP clinical service contract, along with MOCAP level 2, prorated for part-time positions.


RSA Incentives

Recruitment incentive: $15,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time.
Relocation: $9,000 if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada.
Fee premium: 11.48%
Annual retention fee: $17,421
RCME funding: $440 for up to 2 years in Trail, $2,640 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $4,840 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds.

The above numbers are based on a full-time position and may be prorated for physicians working less than full time. Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
