Practice Details:

This is an exciting opportunity to design your own position! You have the option of a combination of GP Anesthesia and ER work, or you can include a family practice component as well, although it is not required.

The GP anesthesia practice requires that you take a minimum of one fourth of the elective anesthesia slates and the on-call. If you are looking to further diversify in your practice, there is an opportunity to pick up ER shifts but this is not an expectation.

If you would like to include a family practice component at the Sparling East Medical Centre then you will work alongside 9 other physicians on Fernie's iconic main street. The other GPAs are all based at Sparling East simplifying sharing of pre-op anaesthesia consults.

Each physician at Sparling East sets their own clinic schedule balancing it with their hospital work. Our clinic offers friendly helpful MOAs, a chronic disease management nurse, a social worker, an occupational therapist and a social worker. Our patient population is diverse with a mixture of young families, coal industry employees, seniors and seasonal visitors. We value quality patient care as well as quality of life.

You will be expected to participate in the duty doc/ hospitalist program that is equally shared among all the Fernie physicians (average is three weeks per year).
