PRH is looking to expand its Emergency Medicine group and is looking for certified individuals (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada Emergency or Certificate of Canadian Family Practitioners - Emergency) to join our collegial team.
We have a great group of 18 Emergency physicians from various backgrounds – including CCFP-EM and FP-EM, who support an average of 41,000 visits annually. There is very good specialist support available and double physician coverage for most of the day and evenings. PRH has excellent radiology availability with on-site Computed Tomography (CT) and Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). We are also a Regional Trauma Referral Centre. We are proud to be actively involved in collaboration with the University of British Columbia’s Southern Medical Program and you will have the opportunity to make an impact on 4th year medical students as well as Family Practice Residents.
This is an opportunity to enjoy the South Okanagan's exceptional recreation and culture with world-class wineries, beaches, boating, hiking, fishing, golf and rock climbing, all the while working in the Penticton Regional Hospital Emergency Department.

This is a long-term locum position with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position in the future. The locum time frame is flexible, with an ideal service of ~6-9 months.

Penticton Regional Hospital:

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Interior Health Authority responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining a complement of excellent medical and surgical specialists with available on site Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine and Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a ten-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

In April 2019, PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two, completed in December 2021, includes the full renovation and expansion of the PRH Emergency Department including 2 new trauma bays, 12 acute care beds, 14 streaming rooms and chairs along with 2 consult rooms and 2 seclusion rooms.
