As the regional Trauma and ICU Referral Centre, you'll be entrusted with challenging cases that will push your skills and expertise to new heights. Our population is diverse in age and presentation. This job posting is for a position covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination order, and selected applicant(s) must comply with the requirements of the order.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Licensure, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)

    Mandatory coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.


    Certification in the College of Family Physicians - Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM) is preferred, however consideration will also be given to physicians with current CCFP who possess emergency experience, even if they do not hold a specialty in Emergency Medicine.


    If you’re a US-trained specialist with ABMS certification in Emergency Medicine, you may be eligible to practice medicine in British Columbia under the USA Certified Class.

Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Our flexible scheduling system provides accommodation for your preferences whenever possible, with 8-14 shifts per month. We offer 4 shifts daily ranging between 6.5-9 hours, to ensure comprehensive coverage across day, evening, and night shifts.


On call requirements: None

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

Anticipate an estimated gross annual income ranging from $250,000 to $400,000, determined by a fee-for-service payment structure, MOCAP level 1, and a bonus of $550 per night shift.


RSA Incentives

Recruitment incentive: $15,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time.
Relocation: $9,000 if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada.
Fee premium: 11.48%
Annual retention fee: $17,421
RCME funding: $440 for up to 2 years in Trail, $2,640 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $4,840 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds.

The above numbers are based on a full-time position and may be prorated for physicians working less than full time. Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
