Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 in Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails, makes Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing for the winter months. Practice Details:

Cariboo Memorial Hospital is currently recruiting for an Orthopaedic surgeon to join our team. The successful candidate will be a general orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on primary hip and knee arthroplasty. Current on-site capabilities include upper extremity arthroscopy, knee arthroscopy, as well as basic foot and ankle surgeries. Scheduled resources include 1 ½ days per week of Elective OR time and ½ day a week of outpatient trauma OR time. Additionally, there are resources to accommodate a 1 day fracture clinic with cast tech support. It is expected that the successful candidate will work collaboratively with Royal Inland Hospital Orthopedics (Kamloops) and attend the Monday morning orthopaedic rounds via video conference.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Be willing to work as a team with the orthopaedic surgery group, physician colleagues, and other allied health professionals • Be capable of dealing with general orthopaedic trauma • Be able to work within the existing OR and on-call structure • Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) • Doctorate in Medicine • Licensure with CPSBC and coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital:

Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion of 2026! Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging and outpatient Hemodialysis Unit are operated on-site. The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and mental-health unit.
