How will you create an impact:

The Vice President, Medicine is an integral part of Interior Health’s Senior Executive Team (SET) with joint accountability for setting new standards of excellence in the delivery of health services in British Columbia.

The VP, Medicine provides strategic medical administration leadership and is accountable for medicine related processes governing the delivery of optimum, consistent, and competent medical care provided by Interior Health.

The VP, Medicine works with the VP, Quality, Research & Academic Affairs and the Clinical Operations portfolios to enhance integration, transparency, and accountability for operational and strategic performance.

What will you work on:

• Provides oversight for medical governance including credentialing; privileging; peer review; performance improvement; and physician contracts.

• Ensures consistency and competency in medicine related clinical processes throughout Interior Health.

• Oversees Executive Medical Directors who work in dyad relationships with the VPs of Clinical Operations.

• Co-Leads with the VP Quality, Research and Medical Academic Affairs the development of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, policies, and procedures for physicians across Interior Health.

• Identifies critical issues to be addressed to achieve short-, medium-, and long-term objectives, strategies, plans, and programs to optimize service, improve the patient experience, and meet Ministry of Health objectives.

• Ensures medicine programs and services are designed, integrated, operated, measured, and reported on in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and attainment of established goals and objectives.

• Monitors organizational and portfolio performance against operating targets and key performance indicators.

• Establishes and oversees annual operating plans and related budgets for the portfolio, developing an appropriate organizational structure and allocating the financial, technological, physical, and human resources required to achieve current and long- range strategies and meet operating objectives within the organization’s fiscal framework.

• Provides leadership to all staff within the portfolio through coaching, guiding, modelling key behaviours, and encouraging dialogue to create a respectful and motivating environment that encourages achievement of maximum potential, personal goals, and performance targets.

• Provides senior representation in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to address issues, share information, and promote partnerships.

• Collaborates and participates with the Ministry of Health, other BC Health Authorities, and provincial and national organizations on industry initiatives.

• Keeps abreast of current management and professional practices, issues, and trends affecting health service delivery at the provincial and organizational levels.

• Provides leadership for other services, programs, or projects as assigned by the President and CEO.

The salary for this position is a Range 18 and follows the HEABC provincial compensation plan for excluded positions.
