Medical Leadership opportunity now available for a Medical Director, Emergency Department Stabilization

The Medical Director will act as Physician Recruitment lead to support the sustainment of emergency services across Interior Health, in particular at rural sites. Liaison between local, provincial, and national organizations is required to fulfill the role of the Medical Director. The required collaborations and liaisons along with the multiple lines of responsibility will often result in conflicts of interest situations. These situations must be handled in a transparent and easily understood manner.
ROLE
The Physician shall perform the Services for the Agency in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. The Services include the following:
1. Physician Recruitment Lead for Emergency Department activities for Interior Health including:
a) Promoting Locum opportunities in IH Rural communities to address urgent physician shortages to avoid the closure of emergency departments.
b) Support and coordinate response to Emergency Departments across IH with a focus on rural locations.
c) Accountability and responsibility for ED locum physician recruitment processes.
d) Focus on networking and creating relationships to develop an understanding of the local needs.
e) Collaboration with Chief of Staff/Executive Medical Director/Medical Affairs to fill vacant emergency shifts.
f) Contribute to strategic planning and workforce planning for maintaining ED services.

Reporting Relationships

The Medical Director of Emergency Department Stabilization reports to the Executive Medical Director.

Qualifications:

• • Requires FRCPC or CCFP-EM. • Current IH ED physician preferred.
