Practice Details:

Come and join our existing team of 5 pediatricians in Penticton! This position offers a wide spectrum of general practice with a friendly, easy-going and supportive team environment. We have a well-equipped ward with 10 inpatient beds that is shared with adult services. We also have a level 1 capacity nursery for infants 36 weeks and over. The maternity care is shared between 5 Consulting Obstetricians, a group of midwives and a primary care clinic (South Okanagan Maternity Clinic).

Candidates are required to maintain NRP and PALs certification.

Clinic space is available. Join a group of 3 well established pediatricians in a newly renovated outpatient clinic, 5 min from the hospital and right in the heart of downtown Penticton. Secretarial staff is very experienced, and shared among the group. No new hiring of Medical Office Assistants will be necessary. Overhead and MOA costs are shared, and minimal (pro-rated based on use).

This position is fully EMR based and integrated between the collaborating paediatricians. Duties at hospital include consultation to the ER, LDR, and covering the ward. Teaching to 1st year family practice residents, pediatric residents, and 3rd and 4th year medical students will be expected periodically. We participate in the regional assessment team for Complex developmental disability and FASD and autism programs, as well as run outreach clinics to the Penticton Indian Band and Princeton periodically (optional).

Penticton Regional Hospital:

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Interior Health Authority responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining a complement of excellent medical and surgical specialists with available on site Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine and Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a ten-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

In April 2019, PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two, completed in December 2021, includes the full renovation and expansion of the PRH Emergency Department including 2 new trauma bays, 12 acute care beds, 14 streaming rooms and chairs along with 2 consult rooms and 2 seclusion rooms.
