Interior Health is recruiting for an exciting medical leadership opportunity as the Clinical Medical Director, Trauma Services at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH).

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a UBC teaching hospital and one of two tertiary hospitals in Interior Health. Our facility serves a catchment of approximately 250,000 and has 273 beds. It is a unique place to work where Medical Staff culture and collegiality in combination with a collaborative relationship with Hospital Administration maximizes opportunities for job satisfaction and quality of care.

This important role is instrumental in providing administrative and clinical leadership for Trauma Services at RIH. The Medical Director will co-lead, with site operational trauma leadership, and the regional Trauma Services Network , providing strategic direction and medical leadership to improve the quality of trauma services delivered. Reporting to the Medical Director, IH Trauma Services Network, and working in a co-management model with the site trauma administrative leadership and the Trauma Services Network, the Medical Director will ensure services are delivered in a patient-centred and culturally safe model with consideration of the entire system of trauma services across the region.

The Clinical Medical Director will co-lead the integration, standardization and quality improvement of trauma services at RIH. This will include participating in setting evidenced-based standards, developing guidelines and monitoring information and data related to trauma services at RIH . Key requirements of the position include leading regular Trauma Care Quality Council meetings, leading Patient Safety & Quality rounds and engaging physicians from various clinical areas to improve trauma care across the site. Success in the role depends on leadership skills and engagement of physicians and other practitioners, program managers and provincial stakeholders. The Clinical Medical Director will be expected to work in a co-management model to create an inclusive approach to the development, monitoring and improvement of site delivered trauma services and to liaise between Agency operational staff, physician committees and physicians to represent physician viewpoints and facilitate open communication.
