Practice Details:

Interior Health has a new opportunity for a team-oriented and highly skilled general urologist to join our current group of three urologists in Kamloops at the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH). The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care.
This role has a mix of hospital and private clinic responsibilities. This position will work predominantly with the adult population but may see pediatric urology patients as well. This team serves a large geographical area, including Kamloops, Merritt, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, and Salmon Arm. There is one day per week scheduled for the OR in Kamloops, plus access to Salmon Arm once a month. Also, you would have one day a week in the ambulatory care area (cystoscopy) and would be expected to travel to 100 Mile House nine times a year for cystoscopy. The typical hours for this position are 0800–1600. Travel time to Salmon Arm and 100 Mile House is funded.

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals and Level 1 Trauma Centres, RIH receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 ED visits per year.

The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened at RIH in the summer of 2022. Among other services, the tower includes child and adolescent mental-health and substance-use inpatient unit as well as a 30 bed general psychiatric unit (20 general and 10 high observation beds and 3 seclusion beds).

Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
