Practice Details:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the growing team at the Aspen Maternity and Women’s Health Clinic within Kootenary Boundary Regional Hospital! This is a 0.30 FTE position, which would provide the option to design your own practice.

The ideal candidate will be a family physician with a passion and comfort providing care for women and families, and will have strong communication skills when dealing with both colleagues and patients, motivation to become an active member of the local medical community, and have a keen interest in providing supportive women’s health care to a diverse range of women and families.

The clinic is open weekdays. Evening and weekend call is rotated through the team. This provides flexibility and a strong work-life balance, which provides ample opportunities to enjoy the all-season recreation available within the Trail and Kootenay Boundary area.

Team members receive level 1 MOCAP at $28.25 per hour. Currently the clinic bills using LFP with FFS for the ward. All billings are pooled and divided per shift. Payment per shift ranges from $1000-$2000 per day depending on volume during the month. Each member receives an additional $2100 per quarter for the FPSC maternity bonus.

Medical staff positions are covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s Expanded Public Health Order requiring mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for all health care workers effective October 26, 2021 thus requiring all Medical Staff to be fully vaccinated to work in Interior Health facilities. Offers are conditional upon you providing proof of your vaccination status and meeting all requirements of the applicable PHO Orders.

  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • Obstetric experience

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

$60,000 - $100,000 depending on number of shifts.


RSA Incentives

Rural Incentives include:
Recruitment bonus: $4500.00 (based on FTE Amount)
Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
Fee Premium: 11.48%
Annual Retention: $17,790.72

Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.
Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for loan forgiveness programs.


Aspen Maternity and Women's Health Clinic:

The Aspen Maternity and Women’s Health Clinic is located within Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in beautiful Trail, BC. The Aspen clinic provides team-based care to their patients as they journey through pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum. Services provided include pre-conception counselling, LARC placement and removal, pregnancy loss management, prenatal, intrapartum and post partum care, and assistance in managing unplanned pregnancies.

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) provides comprehensive care to approximately 85,000 residents across the region, including emergency and trauma care, intensive care, acute medical conditions, renal dialysis, and neonatal intensive care. Specialists at KBRH include ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, urology, general surgery, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, oncology, and internal medicine.
