If you're seeking a truly welcoming and team-based setting with endless lifestyle opportunities, this is the chance you've been eagerly waiting for! We are actively seeking locum, part-time, and full-time hospitalists at Kelowna General Hospital, offering abundant flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your needs. Whether you're a couple looking to balance outpatient and inpatient work or a physician seeking a fulfilling role, we warmly welcome you to join our team.

At Kelowna General Hospital, our Hospitalist Department is both large and mature, caring for a daily census of approximately 300 patients. Our diverse team includes 14-day hospitalists, two evening hospitalists, and one dedicated in-house overnight shift. In our roles as hospitalists, we operate in the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) capacity for complex adult medical patients, as well as co-managing adult surgical patients. Our hospitalists work throughout the hospital, excluding the ICU, and we benefit from exceptional support from our esteemed specialists and ICU colleagues.

Our program proudly collaborates with the UBC-Okanagan medical undergraduate program and the UBC Kelowna family medicine residency program, offering valuable rotations with our Hospitalist team. If you desire to engage in teaching activities, opportunities such as tutoring and clinical teaching are available on-site during your off days. We actively encourage participation in committees and quality improvement initiatives, empowering you to make a positive impact. Moreover, we provide leadership opportunities through the NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program, allowing you to nurture your leadership skills and contribute to shaping the future of healthcare.

We want to emphasize that while hospitalist work experience is valued, it is not required. We have extensive experience sponsoring and supporting International Medical Graduate (IMG) applicants through the provisional licensure process, ensuring a smooth transition into our team. We celebrate and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds to join our inclusive and dynamic group. We also have a well-established orientation manual and process in place to support your integration and success.

Camaraderie and shared experiences are the pillars of our group's success. We foster a supportive environment where colleagues thrive in a collaborative team setting. We believe in embracing an active and healthy lifestyle, which is evident in our hospitalist hockey evenings, group cycling, swimming, and running activities. Additionally, we organize social events throughout the year, creating opportunities to connect and foster a vibrant culture.

Join us at Kelowna General Hospital, where you'll find not only a fulfilling professional environment but also a community that values your well-being and supports your growth.
