Practice Details:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Kelowna General Hospital is now accepting applications for permanent full-time positions. We are looking to hire multiple new physicians this cycle, as our ED and the City of Kelowna continue to grow. The tentative start date is July 2026, but this is negotiable.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, full-service ED (including pediatrics) that sees everything from trauma to medically complex elderly patients. Here, we perform a broad range of procedural skills, including intubations, sedations, reductions, cardioversions, and chest tube insertions. We are looking for candidates who are committed to delivering the highest quality patient care. If you have strong clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills, we want to hear from you. Previous locum work or placements in the KGH ED are considered advantageous but not required.

KGH is a robust academic centre with Emergency Medicine at the forefront. We have a distinguished FRCPC EM program to complement the UBC Southern Medical Program and UBC Rural Family Medicine Residency programs. Our EM staff are engaged in countless teaching and academic opportunities across all three programs, including Journal Club, Simulation, Core Teaching Rounds, Grand Rounds, and more. Candidates with demonstrated interest or expertise in research, quality improvement, Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEMs), geriatrics, business, or health administration will find ample opportunities to contribute.

Our team values collaboration, with strong working relationships between emergency physicians, specialists, and consultants, ensuring a supportive and well-connected practice environment. If you are looking for an exciting variety of cases while working with an engaged group of colleagues in a fantastic work environment, this opportunity is just what you’ve been waiting for!

Please send your application, including a Letter of Intent, CV, and contact information for three references, to both the KGH EM Team at kepa.hiring@gmail.com and physicianrecruitment@interiorhealth.ca. The reference contact information should include the full name, phone number, and email address. The application deadline is September 2nd, 2025, at 5 PM Pacific Time. Successful first-round applicants will be offered an interview, with tentative dates set for September 22nd and 25th. Candidates will be contacted regarding the success of their application on Monday, October 20th, 2025.
