The region has multiple family practice clinics which offer a variety of in clinic services as well as opportunities to create a schedule that suits your needs and those of your family. The collegiality between the clinics is inspiring as clinics support the Creston Valley Hospital (CVH) a 20-bed Acute Care Hospital with an active 24-hour Emergency Department and 2 long term care homes in the Town. All Creston GP's provide routine clinical care within the practices of their medical clinic, and provide approximately 1:11 on call emergency services. Acute patient services at CVH include GP Surgery/Anesthesia/Low Risk Obstetrics, inpatient services, and Dialysis. Local Diagnostics are provided through laboratory services, imaging, ultrasound. Support departments at the hospital include pharmacy, dietary, physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as other ancillary services. The Hospital also hosts visiting specialists to limit patient travel.

In association with the UBC Medical School, two of our clinics support students and residents, completing their rural component of their training and the students speak highly of their experiences with us.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • Emergency experience
  • Obstetric experience
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: 9:00 - 4:00 Monday - Thursday
On call requirements: 1:11

RSA Incentives

Rural Incentives Include:
Recruitment Bonus: $20,000 (pro-rated if not full time)
Relocation: depending on relocation
Fee Premium: 16.66%
Annual Retention Fee: $25,818.24

Rural Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.

Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for BC or Canada loan forgiveness programs for those living and working in rural community.


Creston Valley Hospital:

CVH is a 20-bed Acute Care Hospital with 24-hour on call physician emergency services. Acute patient services include Surgery, Medicine, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Dialysis. Diagnostics are provided through imaging, ultrasound and lab. Support services are provided through pharmacy, dietary, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Visiting specialists provide General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ears/Nose/Throat, Neurology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Radiology, Urology and Gastroenterology consultations to the Creston population.   The hospital operates a General Practitioner Surgical Day Program that includes Day Procedures, Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and C-Sections.​
