Shape the future of mental healthcare in Cranbrook at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH), where you'll provide services from inpatient and outpatient settings to community-driven initiatives, tailoring a holistic approach to diverse wellness needs across all age groups.

In our 12-bed inpatient unit and outpatient clinic, as well as through consultations in medical, surgical units, and the ER, you’ll ensure comprehensive, tailored care. Beyond the hospital, you’ll help shape and deliver transformative psychiatric services in the rural East Kootenays, providing innovative treatment alongside our clinical teams and Indigenous partners.

Call Schedule:

Hours of work: We want you to love life in and outside work, and we'll do our best to promote your work-life balance.
On call requirements: We offer flexible on-call commitments, providing an opportunity for a customized and balanced approach.

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

As a psychiatrist in Cranbrook, you can expect total compensation between $400,000-600,000, through fee-for-service billings, sessional contracts and MOCAP level 2.


RSA Incentives

Recruitment incentive: $20,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time.
Relocation: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada.
Fee premium: 14%
Annual retention fee: $21,246
RCME funding: $1,800 for up to 2 years in Cranbrook, $4,800 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $7,800 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds.

Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.


East Kootenay Regional Hospital:

Join us at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, an 80-bed regional referral centre serving approximately 82,000 individuals in the beautiful East Kootenay region of BC.

Our 24/7 emergency and trauma services feature a 16-bed unit and a 6-bed ICU. Our high-acuity-response-team provides mobile critical care to stabilize and transfer rural patients.

The hospital includes a level 3 lab with new PCR and MALDI/TOF machines, plus new MRI, SPECT CT, and upcoming CT scanners in the radiology department. Construction is also underway for a new NICU, renovated ER triage, and oncology and renal departments.

With our dedicated team, you’ll find top-notch care across our comprehensive range of services: internal medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, pathology, psychiatry, pediatrics, anesthesia, radiology, urology, and family practice inpatient care.
