Located at the narrowest section of the sparklingly Osoyoos Lake on the Canadian-US border, the town of Osoyoos enjoys the hottest summer days in Canada. Framed by mountains, forested highlands and grasslands Osoyoos landscape ensure nearly limitless outdoor recreation. With all that heat, there are many opportunities for great summer activities including all sorts of water sports, biking, and hiking. Lush vineyards and fruit stands offering fresh local fruit are also plentiful in the small multicultural community. The area also provides numerous avenues for winter fun with downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Complementing the fantastic scenery and climate is the town of Osoyoos’s outgoing and genial community.
Practice Details:
Join a team of family physicians, three MOAs and a fantastic office manager in the beautiful town of Osoyoos. With a population of 5000 + another 2000 in the rural area, Osoyoos enjoys a sophisticated vintner industry, championship golf courses, the nation’s warmest lake and a wide range of cultural, ecological, and artistic experiences. Osoyoos does have it all– golf, spas, beaches, wineries, orchards, culinary delights, Indigenous culture and eco-desert experiences are yours to enjoy while you live and practice on one of Canada's premier resort destinations.
This opportunity has a panel of 600 patients and is managed with three days per week in clinic. You could definitely grow your panel via the Division of Family Practice Patient Attachment List. Round on your own patients at South Okanagan General Hospital (an 18 inpatient bed facility with 24/7 emergency coverage) in Oliver (20 minutes north of Osoyoos). Weekends and after hours are covered by Doctor of the Day. Participate in Doctor of the Day (two shifts per month), emergency is available if interested. This physician currently does LTC and MAiD. If you have an interest in MHSU - OAT would be a welcomed addition to the community.
- Return of Service Family Physicians - a portion of your ROS FTE will support PCN and/or IH facilities and/or services. Please contact your Division and/or IH recruiter for more information on what PCN and/or Heath Authority services are provided in this community and what your expected PCN and/or Health Authority deliverables will be.
- Family Physicians in this community are strongly encouraged to support IH services, including rural ER, LTC, OAT, Maternity, etc., as part of their community practice. For more information on what IH services are provided in this community, please contact your IH or Division recruiter.
