Practice Details:
At Kelowna General Hospital, caring for the mental health of older adults isn’t just a profession—it’s a profound opportunity to restore balance, resilience, and quality of life. Your expertise will offer clarity to patients navigating cognitive and emotional challenges, while also strengthening the vital network of caregivers and support teams around them.
This dynamic role extends across multiple care settings, including the McNair inpatient unit with 42 dedicated beds, hospital-wide consultations, and meaningful community outreach through our Seniors Mental Health team. For those seeking even greater professional scope, the option to establish a private practice alongside hospital duties provides both flexibility and depth.
Your skill in advanced pharmacology and psychosocial interventions will be key in addressing the unique needs of geriatric patients. Just as important, you’ll be a trusted guide for families and caregivers, equipping them with knowledge and confidence to navigate complex mental health journeys with their loved ones.
If mentoring excites you, there’s ample room to inspire and educate—whether through hands-on teaching of medical students and Family Practice residents or through an academic appointment with UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. Your leadership will help shape both individual careers and the broader future of geriatric psychiatry.
This is more than a job—it’s a chance to make an enduring impact. Through compassionate expertise, you’ll help seniors maintain dignity, independence, and emotional well-being, leaving a meaningful legacy in Kelowna and beyond.

The Dr. Walter Anderson Building houses enhanced laboratory and clinical departments, supporting advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program, affiliated with the University of British Columbia (UBC), and has an academic campus that serves as a satellite for the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
