Family Physician Opportunity
A wonderful team-based primary care opportunity awaits you in the beautiful Kootenay region of British Columbia. The Lower Columbia Community Health Centre (LCCHC) in Trail is recruiting a family physician to join our dynamic, interprofessional, and community-engaged team. This is a longitudinal primary care role with flexible scheduling available from 0.6 to 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), and the option to explore practice sharing models. Physicians will be supported to focus on patient care, free from the burden of clinic administration, and can optionally pursue hospital-based work or expanded scopes in maternity, addictions, and mental health care.

LCCHC is a non-profit, community-governed organization offering team-based primary care. Our team includes 2 Nurse Practitioners, 5 Family Physicians, 2 Social Workers, 2 Registered Nurses (RNs), and 5 Medical Office Assistants (MOAs), and is supported by a leadership team including an Executive Director, Medical Director, and Clinic Manager. We are expanding to include a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a physiotherapist, and two community outreach workers. Through the Kootenay Boundary Primary Care Network, we also benefit from access to occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, dietetics, and an Aboriginal Health Coordinator. Physicians are supported to work to their full scope, while administrative tasks are minimized to prioritize direct patient care.

LCCHC is a University of British Columbia (UBC) teaching site, with opportunities to precept Family Medicine residents and 3rd-year medical students through the Integrated Clinical Clerkship. Trail is also home to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, offering optional opportunities in ER, Hospitalist, Obstetrics, Oncology, Mental Health, OR Assists, and Long-Term Care. Physician payment model is the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP). Overhead is paid at an hourly rate of $44.65 per hour.

International applicants are welcome to apply, and immigration support is available for eligible international medical graduates. Prior to the start date, applicants must hold certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or equivalent and be eligible for licensure with the CPSBC. ACLS is required for those involved in hospital-based roles.
