Position Overview
Interior Health is seeking a visionary psychiatrist to serve as the Medical Director for the MHSU Network. In this co-leadership role, you will partner with the Network Director, MHSU, to guide the strategic and clinical direction of MHSU services across the continuum of care. This role is ideal for a physician leader committed to advancing mental health and substance use care through collaboration, innovation, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership
• Co-lead the MHSU Network, ensuring alignment with provincial standards and Interior Health’s strategic goals.
• Foster a collaborative, inter-professional environment across acute, residential, tertiary, and community MHSU services.
• Represent Interior Health in medico-legal, regulatory, and inter-agency matters related to MHSU.

Clinical Oversight & Quality
• Promote excellence in psychiatric care and service delivery across diverse populations including children, youth, seniors, Indigenous communities, LGBTQ2S individuals, and those with substance use concerns.
• Lead quality assurance, patient safety, and utilization management initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and professional regulations.

Physician Engagement & Development
• Provide consistent leadership and support to physicians within the MHSU Program.
• Promote continuing professional development and ethical standards of care.

Recruitment & Retention
• Collaborate on physician workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.
• Strengthen academic partnerships with UBC and other institutions.
Education & Research
• Identify and support educational priorities and research initiatives within the MHSU Clinical Network.
• Ensure policies and procedures support excellence in care, teaching, and innovation.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • • Licensed Psychiatrist in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. • Demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare or academic settings. • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive system-level improvements. • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare delivery.

$141,258.08-$161,398.00
