Join a group of enthusiastic and skilled professionals dedicated to delivering top-notch healthcare. This role is not just a job; it’s a chance to thrive in a hospitalist position that offers both diversity and challenges in patient care, without the responsibilities of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, or ICU/code blue scenarios.

At VJH, your role is crucial. You will manage general medical care for adults and collaborate on surgical and psychiatric cases, enriching the depth and variety of your daily responsibilities. Day shifts run from 08:00 to approximately 17:00, and you will typically care for 15–18 patients. Your expertise in navigating complex patient situations is highly valued as you work alongside specialists in Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and more. For cases requiring advanced treatment, you will coordinate with tertiary care in Kelowna to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Our team of hospitalists benefits from a dedicated network of allied healthcare professionals, offering comprehensive support to make sure every patient receives the care they need precisely when they need it. Your communication skills will shine as you collaborate with discharge planners, community resources, and family physicians to ensure seamless transitions and continual care.

Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Full Time or Part Time
On call requirements: Rest easy when you finish your day shift - our team keeps evening and overnight call separate. We work 1-2 evening/overnight shifts per month, starting at 1700 and ending at 0800. Payment for these shifts is 12 hours of APP rates, plus MOCAP thereafter

Clinical Service Contract: For a full time hospitalist, anticipate an annual base income of $336,168.00 or $200.10/ hour. Up to an additional 40% is also available with group contract incentives. MOCAP level 2 and After Hours Premiums also provided.


Additional Incentives

Relocation reimbursement up to a maximum of $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada. (with eligible detailed receipts)

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a 196-bed facility and a beacon of healthcare excellence in Vernon, British Columbia. Serving as the primary hospital in the North Okanagan region, VJH provides comprehensive acute care, along with advanced medical services and technology.

The unveiling of the Polson Tower marked a significant expansion, boosting outpatient services and introducing specialized units for maternity, pediatrics, intensive and coronary care. Subsequent growth saw the addition of medical inpatient facilities, a fifth operating theatre, and a sophisticated MRI. The hospital’s future looks even brighter with the planned construction of a 44 single-occupancy room psychiatric unit by 2029. This development aims to offer improved and personalized mental health resources.

Nearly 1,800 dedicated personnel cater to approximately 93,720 individuals, including those from the First Nations and Métis communities.
