Practice Details:

Interior Health is seeking dedicated and skilled Family Practice or Specialist Physicians with additional experience and training in addiction medicine to join the team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) in Cranbrook, British Columbia. This is a meaningful opportunity to serve as a trailblazer in addictions care for a rural and underserved population, with significant leadership potential and strong community impact

The successful candidate will deliver a broad scope of addictions medicine services, including:
• Addiction medicine consultations
• Inductions (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone, SROM)
• Liaison with allied health professionals and community programs
• Education and training for residents, medical students, clinical clerks, and preceptorship learners
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with other specialties and the Emergency Department
• Ongoing consult management and follow-up care

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
  • • ISAM (International Society of Addiction) certification and/or certificate of added competence in addiction medicine from the College of Family Physicians. • Certification through the Canadian Certification Society of Addiction Medicine (CCSAM) preferred

$150,000 to $240,000 on Fee for service, APP Contract is currently in development


RSA Incentives

Relocation reimbursement up to a maximum of $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada.

Rural Incentives include:
Recruitment bonus: $20,000
Fee Premium: 14.00 %
Annual Retention: $21,696.00
Rural CME: max of $5720/year after 4 years in practice

East Kootenay Regional Hospital:

Join us at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, an 80-bed regional referral centre serving approximately 82,000 individuals in the beautiful East Kootenay region of BC.

Our 24/7 emergency and trauma services feature a 16-bed unit and a 6-bed ICU. Our high-acuity-response-team provides mobile critical care to stabilize and transfer rural patients.

The hospital includes a level 3 lab with new PCR and MALDI/TOF machines, plus new MRI, SPECT CT, and upcoming CT scanners in the radiology department. Construction is also underway for a new NICU, renovated ER triage, and oncology and renal departments.
