Practice Details:

Hospitalist (Community Inpatient Service - PRH)

Community Inpatient Physician, Penticton, BC

Join a collaborative, well-supported inpatient team in Penticton, BC, delivering care through a structured and sustainable model.

Practice Model: 6 family medicine lines per day, providing daytime inpatient care
Schedule: Week-long rotations (7 days), 8hr shifts covering 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility in the number of weeks worked annually per physician.
Call: Shared Doctor of the Day (overnight call, distributed across the group)
Compensation: Pooled billing model with competitive hourly earnings and predictable income

The Community Inpatient Services (CIS) program is physician-led, with a high degree of autonomy in clinical and operational decision-making. The South Okanagan Similkameen Division of Family Practice and the SOS Health Care Society provide administrative and coordination support to enable a sustainable, team-based model.

The CIS team is a highly collaborative group, with a strong culture of peer support and shared problem-solving. It is well-suited to physicians early in practice who value mentorship and team-based care, as well as experienced providers looking to join a stable and collegial inpatient team.

A small amount of community-based family practice must be maintained to support billing eligibility requirements, with flexibility in how this is arranged.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: Week-long rotations (7 days), 8hr shifts covering 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility in the number of weeks worked annually per physician.
On call requirements: Shared Doctor of the Day (overnight call, distributed across the group)

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

$200/hour for 8 hours shifts, which would be $1600.00/day or $11,200.00/ week.
