Practice Details:
The Medical Lead, Cardiac Medical Imaging is a physician administrator and clinical leader who works to achieve a collaborative working relationship between physicians and administration, based on the Interior Health (IH) vision, mission and goals, as they relate to the delivery of regional cardiac medical imaging services. This role works in close collaboration with the Medical Director, IH Cardiac Diagnostics, and in consultation with IH Cardiac Program leadership, medical staff colleagues, and operational leaders, as an adjunct to the primary responsibility for clinical leadership, quality, and physician-related matters within cardiac imaging.
ROLE SUMMARY
Works collaboratively with the Medical Director, IH Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinical Operations Manager, Regional Cardiac Diagnostics to ensure alignment of clinical standards, quality initiatives, utilization management, and regional planning for cardiac medical imaging and diagnostics.
Works in alignment with the IH Cardiac Program, Cardiac Services BC, and Interior Health strategic priorities on all matters related to cardiac diagnostic imaging.
Provides physician leadership to support consistent imaging practices across sites, including echocardiography, cardiac CT, nuclear cardiology, MRI and other non-interventional cardiac imaging modalities as applicable.
TERM
One (1) year; renewable upon satisfactory review and mutual agreement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – CLINICAL SERVICE
Provides medical leadership and input into the planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of cardiac medical imaging services across IH.
Promotes high-quality, evidence-based standards of clinical care, utilization management, and appropriateness of cardiac diagnostic imaging.
Participates in the development, implementation, and review of clinical protocols, pathways, and standards related to cardiac medical imaging.
Identifies impacts of proposed changes to imaging practice, including physician resources, staffing, equipment, and non-wage costs.
Supports maintenance of physician competence, professional standards of care, and ethical conduct.
QUALITY
Actively contributes to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities related to cardiac medical imaging.
Participates in the identification, monitoring, and review of quality and performance indicators.
Works collaboratively on patient safety investigations and complaints related to cardiac imaging.
TEACHING, EDUCATION, AND RESEARCH
Identifies physician and staff education priorities related to cardiac medical imaging.
Maintains awareness of emerging research, best practices, and technological advances in cardiac imaging.
Supports Interior Health’s academic and teaching mandate.
LEADERSHIP
Participates in the Non-Interventional Cardiac Diagnostics Advisory Committee.
Participates in the Regional Cardiac Quality & Planning Committee as requested
Provides physician leadership, engagement, and strategic input for cardiac medical imaging services.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs other related duties as requested by the Medical Director, IH Cardiac Diagnostics or IH Cardiac Program Leadership
Qualifications:

Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC or the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Dentist or Midwife in B.C. .
Medical leadership experience and demonstrated effectiveness.
Clinically active physician within Interior Health (credentialed or eligible for credentialling, and eligible for privileging if determined to be required for aspects of this role).
