100 Mile House

100 Mile House (referred to locally as "Hundred Mile") offers rustic charm, beautiful lakes, plentiful outdoor activities, unique guest and dude ranches and a friendly atmosphere. It is located on a plateau in south-central British Columbia, 458 km north-east from Vancouver and 95km south of Williams Lake.

We enjoy the outdoors! We have extensive cross country and biking trails and we enjoy the many lakes in the area. We also play in our outdoors on horses, ATV's, showshoes or snowmobiles. There are active hockey, soccer, and curling teams at the south Cariboo Recreation Centre, as well as archery, gymnastics, figure skating, basketball, and more. 100 Mile House has its own bowling alley, movie theatre, and shooting range, and it is a very popular destination for avid hunters. Many of the local resorts offer additional fun activities, including a newly renovated pool and spa. There are wonderful elementary schools with music programs and French immersion, as well as several day cares and beautiful parks with playgrounds. For a small town, 100 Mile House has a wonderful variety of restaurants serving Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Filipino, Thai, German, Mexican, and American cuisine. In short, this community is perfect for doctors seeking the tranquillity and outdoor recreation of a small town with the convenience and amenities of a larger centre - minus the traffic!

Practice Details:

Village Medical Clinic ( is ready to welcome a 4th full-time colleague to our multidisciplinary teaching clinic. This position includes about six Emergency shifts each month (12 hr each). The existing 3 physicians in our clinic practice full-spectrum care but you are free to define your own practice. You will follow your own patients in hospital and residential care but you and your clinic colleagues will cover each other for vacation. You will be an independent and equal partner so that you have flexibility in scheduling, booking strategies, and treatments (such as what procedures you do), but decisions about the clinic are made collectively. We transitioned to MedAccess EMR in 2017, so there is a new computer in every room! Our clinic includes a nursing room and a procedure room.

There are many teaching opportunities, including supervising medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine. Our multidisciplinary team includes a sports chiropractor, podiatrist, and psychiatric health nurse. This year, we will be adding a nurse practitioner and pharmacy consults. The clinic doctors and office manager have periodic staff meetings to address and troubleshoot concerns about patients or clinic operations as a team.

Actual overhead costs are split proportionally between the doctors. A new doctor will pay only 25% of billings (up to a maximum of their split portion) while establishing his or her practice. Fee for Service is augmented with rural incentives and ER stipends.
