Exciting Regional Medical Leadership opportunity now available for a community minded physician leader. Enjoy career satisfaction in this rewarding administrative role as you provide medical oversight and clinical leadership in patient transportation services. Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, the Regional Director works within a community within the Agency. This includes working with hospital institutions, continuing care facilities and community facilities that provide health care, preventive programs and health promotion initiatives. In collaboration with clinical, physician and administrative leaders, this role oversees the medical oversight of the IH Patient Transportation Office (PTO), High Acuity Response Teams (HARTs), and the IH Transport Advisors (TAs). Activities include: • performance monitoring of patient care delivery (e.g., chart audits, field observation)• co-lead the development and delivery of a Continuing Medical Education (CME) / maintenance of competency program (e.g., advanced airway management)• co-lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities• co-lead the development and evaluation of evidence-based clinical practice standards• clinical research in the patient transportation subspecialty• co-lead strategic program planning (align program goals with Interior Health’s strategic objectives)The Regional Medical Director will demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the interdependent roles of various health professionals. Success of the role is dependant upon the provision of leadership and support of clinicians involved in the delivery and coordination of high transportation services, as well as engagement with physicians, administration, ambulance services and community stakeholders.This 0.25 FTE (431.25 hrs) position can be flexibly based. Board certified in Anaesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and/or Critical Care Medicine; or equivalent combination of clinical medical education and experience.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
- Doctorate in Medicine
- Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
- Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
