Facility Details — East Kootenay Regional Hospital:

East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook is a 77 bed regional referral centre, serving a catchment area of approximately 80,000 people in the East Kootenays. The 4 floor facility offers 24/7 emergency services with 16 beds, a brand new state of the art 6 bed ICU, a full range of medical and surgical services including Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Pathology, Psychiatry and Radiology and Urology.

Practice Details:

The Orthopaedic Department at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC is seeking two orthopaedic surgeons to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to come live, work and play in the Kootenay Rockies! The three surgeons currently on staff provide general orthopaedics, arthroplasty, upper extremity and spine. The team is specifically looking for candidates with an interest in general community orthopaedics and arthroplasty. Fellowship training in arthroplasty, trauma, and/or lower extremity/foot and ankle considered an asset.

Call is equally distributed and averages 1:5. Elective OR time averages 1 day per week. There is a hospital based cast clinic with a certified cast clinician. There may be capacity to share an office or to set up your own office. As part of the selection process, it is expected that shortlisted candidates will work as a locum for a determined period of time in order to allow the candidate to become familiar with the team, the work site, and the community before the final decision is made.

  • RSA Incentives
    • Provincial rural incentives for Cranbrook full time specialists currently includes:
    • Recruitment bonus: $20,000
    • Relocation: up to $15,000 pending distance
    • Fee Premium: 14%
    • Annual Flat fee: $14,076
    • Rural CME funding: Up to 2 years $1,800; In 3rd & 4th year $4,800; after 4 years $7,800
    • Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.
