Facility Details — East Kootenay Regional Hospital:

East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook is a 77 bed regional referral centre, serving a catchment area of approximately 80,000 people in the East Kootenays. The 4 floor facility offers 24/7 emergency services with 16 beds, a brand new state of the art 6 bed ICU, a full range of medical and surgical services including Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Pathology, Psychiatry and Radiology and Urology.

Practice Details:

The East Kootenay Regional Hospital, located at the foot of the Rockies in beautiful Cranbrook, BC, is seeking an Anatomical or General Pathologist to complete our 4.75 FTE pathology team. Our group performs approximately 10,000 inpatient and outpatient surgical cases and 10-15 hospital autopsies per year, as well as non-gynecological cytopathology, and frozen sections. There is also an opportunity to perform coroner’s autopsies if interested. We provide medical leadership for all of the Interior Health laboratories in the East Kootenay region. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in surgical pathology and be able to work well within an independent practice in a small group environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships with the hospital and laboratory staff are also important.

The East Kootenay Regional Hospital serves a catchment of approximately 80,000 people, and supports a Level 4 BCCA oncology clinic, on-site MRI, and specialist services in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, and Radiology.

Qualifications:
    • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
    • Doctorate in Medicine
    • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Compensation:
  • Payment Structure
    • Service Contract
  • Estimated Gross Income
    • $363,030 for 210 service days (Service Contract, provincially negotiated grid level)
  • Overhead
    • No overhead cost
  • Additional Incentives
    • Relocation stipend: $9,000- $15,000 based on move location
    • Recruitment incentive: $20,000
    • Retention fee premium: 14% of service contract annually
    • Retention flat fee: $14,076 annually
