Family Physician - Anaesthesia

Come and practice in the beautiful city of Fernie. The Sparling East Medical Centre is an 8 physician clinic on Fernie's iconic main street. We are looking for a rural family practitioner to work two to three days in the clinic per week along with sharing the GP anaesthesia responsibilities at the Elk Valley Hospital. The other three GPAs are all based at Sparling East simplifying sharing of pre-op anaesthesia consults. Each physician sets their own clinic schedule balancing it with their hospital work. Our clinic offers friendly helpful MOAs, competitive overhead, and weekly support from a chronic disease management nurse and social worker. Our patient population is diverse with a mixture of young families, coal industry employees, seniors and seasonal visitors. We value quality patient care as well as quality of life. As part of your practice, you will be responsible for your inpatients when admitted (with the option to sign out to the duty doc on weekends) and patients at Rocky Mountain Villlage. You will be expected to participate in the duty doc/ hospitalist program which is equally shared among all the Fernie physicians (average is three weeks per year). The GP anesthesia practice requires that you take one quarter of elective anaesthesia slates (current rotation Mondays in January, Tuesdays in Feb, Wednesdays in March, Thursdays in April, etc). You will be part of the quarterly GP anesthesia call which is currently OR weekday plus one weekend per month. There is the opportunity to pick up dental buddy days too. If you are looking to further diversify in your practice, there is an opportunity to pick up ER shifts but this is not an expectation.
