Clinic Details — Royal Inland Hospital:
The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 258-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year.

Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services Support services including: a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, two CT scans, and Echocardiography. RIH also features, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage.

Practice Details:

A full time position for a General Pathologist is available with Kamloops Pathology Associates Ltd. The successful candidate will be joining an onsite collegial group of ten other laboratory physicians (4 Anatomic, 5 General, one medical microbiologist) and reporting to the Area Laboratory Medical Director. Duties will include: participation in surgical/autopsy pathology, hematopathology (including transfusion medicine), non-gynecological cytology, and medical biochemistry. Participation in committee work and some limited regional lab oversight is expected. The site is closely linked to the University of British Columbia, so teaching residents and medical students is also possible. We can provide strong mentorship for a new general pathology graduate. Kamloops Pathology Associates Ltd. is based at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. and primarily provides Anatomical and Clinical Pathology Services within the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area.     • Doctorate in Medicine
    • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in General Pathology (or equivalent)Full Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in General PathologyCMPA Coverage is mandatory

    • As per provincial service contract grid, plus MOCAP level 3

    • $10,000 max if <3,000 km; or $15,000 max if >3,000 km (with eligible receipts)
