Medical Oncologist – LOCUM - Immediate - short term and long term opportunities. Unique opportunity for a Medical Oncologist to provide locum coverage in the quaint community of Nelson, BC. While cancer care teams across Interior Health work to protect vulnerable cancer patients, this opportunity will include an innovative model of care that incorporates virtual technology. We are looking for an independent oncologist with good time management skills to be the solo provider for both the out-patient and in-patient case load. The clinic is located inside the community hospital, with a small number of in-patients. The services provided will include the following: *In-office (out--patient) and inpatient consults *new patient consults *counselling/conduct exams *review charts *telehealth patient interactions *treatment planning *cancer treatment initiation, supervision and delivery including; chemotherapy ,targeted therapies, immunotherapyFamily consultations and palliative care support and referrals to team as appropriateIndirect patient care will provide consultation for Emergency Department (ED) physicians, General Practitioner Oncologists (GPO) and other physicians in the Kootenay Boundary (KB) region as needed to provide advice for oncology-related patient concerns The schedule is Monday to Friday - 8 am to 5 pm and the breakdown is: · Consultations in the outpatient clinic afternoons 1 – 3 pm· IV treatments Mon to Thurs mornings · Oral chemo on Fri mornings This position will serve as a team member, along with GP, nursing, and allied health staff to provide Medical Oncology services in a culturally safe, competent and relevant manner for each patient.     • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
    • Doctorate in Medicine
    • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.
