Facility Details — Shuswap Lake General Hospital:
Shuswap Lake General Hospital (SLGH) is a newly renovated 40-bed, Level 2 Community Hospital in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. Located in Salmon Arm, between Kamloops and Revelstoke, the hospital services the surrounding draw population of approximately 37,000 people. This hospital offers a 24-hour new Emergency Department with a registered nurse triage, laboratory and Radiology (X-ray), Surgical, Acute Care beds, Ambulatory and Outpatient Care, Obstetrical Care and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services. The on-site medical team includes local surgeons, internists, and radiologists. Additional features include two operating rooms, a modern computed tomography (CT), Echocardiography, Level 2 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with three beds, and has visiting clinics that include Orthopedics, Urology, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics. Internists and Family Physicians hold University of British Columbia (UBC) clinical appointments hosting medical students, residents, and General Internal Medicine (GIM) Fellows.
In emergency situations this community and physicians are supported by the High Acuity Response Team (HART).
Practice Details:

Great family medicine opportunity in Salmon Arm, in the beautiful Shuswap Lake country! Join our team of experienced and supportive physicians! Our clinic has EMR and is located in the Salmon Arm Medical clinic. We provide family medicine, low risk obstetrics and urgent care. Obstetrics care is optional for new physician. We provide a blended family practice/walk in model of care with advanced access scheduling system. Your work schedule will be negotiable and you will build your practice quickly. Preceptor opportunities exist, if interested, for Nurse Practitioners or for physicians with experience, for IMG's in the Practice Ready Assessment program in BC. In addition to fee for service, income is derived from GPSC incentives for residential and inpatient care as well as from rural incentives (details for rural incentives below). In our clinic you would work as 1 of 3 physicians in a pod. Administrative decisions are made as a whole, but medical decisions are made within your pod and you would share an MOA in your pod. We are happy to discuss overhead.

    • Retention Premium: 9.24%,
    • Retention Flat Fee: $10,110, Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 - pro-rated if not full time,
    • Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location .
    • Rural CME: up to $4,400 year after 4 years in community

    • Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for BC or Canada loan forgiveness programs when you live and practice in a rural community.
