An exciting Medical Leadership opportunity is now available for a collaborative and supportive physician leader as the Perioperative Medical Director at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm. Enjoy career satisfaction in this rewarding administrative role as you provide leadership to the Shuswap Lake General Hospital by supporting operational planning and promoting high quality standards of clinical care for surgical services. In this role, you will be responsible for providing administrative services and executing the management plan related to the delivery of surgical services at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. Alongside medical-staff colleagues, nurse managers of the OR, surgical units, and pre-surgical screening units, you will work to optimize access to safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical services. You will report through the site Chief of Staff to the Executive Medical Director, Surgical Services. The incumbent will also be accountable to the Executive Medical Director, Surgical Services for Interior Health to ensure alignment of planning and practice with provincial and IH-wide surgical and anesthesia goals and objectives. The Perioperative Medical Director is a physician leader who works to achieve a collaborative working relationship between physicians and leaders within clinical operations based on the IH vision mission and goals as they relate to the surgical strategy. Success of the role is dependent upon the provision of leadership and support to medical-staff colleagues as well as engagement and dyad partnerships with the Shuswap Lake General Hospital’s department heads of anesthesia, surgery and site administration. This .05 FTE position requires fixed (dedicated) and variable (flexible) time to meet specific deliverables based on the requirements for site surgical services. - Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
- Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
- Doctorate in Medicine

- Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
