Practice Details:

Do you love OB in Family Practice, but don’t want to burn out doing it? Do you want to live in a friendly place away from the hectic pace of the big cities and move into a wonderful community with an almost endless expanse of nature to explore in your backyard? I am an experienced Family Physician working in a multidisciplinary clinic, which includes a Chiropractor (owner), Registered Massage Therapists, and an effective Weight Loss Program. Our staff is friendly, helpful, and efficient. The clinic is modern, bright, and spacious, and features a shared waiting room with a soothing waterfall feature. There is also an infrared sauna on site, complete with shower, and a lunch room with kitchen and laundry. I am looking for periodic locum support as well as a Family Practice associate, either full-time or half-time, with a similar keen interest in OB. I love working with new graduates and am happy to mentor a colleague who is new to practice. I use OSCAR EMR, and my practice consists largely of young families because of the OB component. It includes a diverse range of ages, genders, orientations, ethnicities, and health conditions. I include some OR assisting in my practice. Cariboo Memorial Hospital is our 31-bed community Level 1 hospital that will soon be renovated and expanded. It serves a catchment population of about 30,000 in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region. It is a baby-friendly hospital ( We even do skin-to-skin with mothers and babies in the OR, with their recovery together after C-sections. We have 4 Obstetrician-Gynecologists, 1 Pediatrician, 3 FPs with additional Pediatric training, and FP-Anesthetists on staff. We all participate in MORE-OB. Apart from maternity services, we have 3 General Surgeons, 2 Internal Medicine specialists, and a Child Psychiatrist. We also have visiting specialists in Rheumatology and Adult Psychiatry, as well as a Telehealth Facility for remote consultation with other specialities. Williams Lake is an ideal place to call home and is a great place to practise medicine, offering full scope, or special-interest, work with supportive colleagues. We can claim 314 sunny days each year, one of the sunniest places in the province. We have an airport with daily flights to and from Vancouver. We have a newly renovated pool and fitness centre, and world-renowned mountain bike trails. Work-life balance happens here! The local Division of Family Practice can coordinate a site-visit for you to familiarize yourself with the clinic, community, and supportive collegial staff that help make Williams Lake a great place to live and work.
