Seize this part-time Family Practice contract opportunity in Kalso, BC!



Our two full-time service contracts are shared by 4 collegial family physicians allowing for a very comfortable practice and plenty of time for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy this beautiful area. Our physicians provide primary care, urgent care and ER services. Rural incentives are in addition to the contract, and the office space, administrative support and overhead costs are provided by Interior Health. We schedule our work week over 7 and the hours are 9-5 (no evening or night shifts). Kaslo physicians have access the provisional Rural GP Locum Program RGPLP for vacation coverage.



The Victorian Community Health Centre is part of the Primary Care Network (PCN) and provides social work support, primary health nursing, group medical visits, chronic disease management, physiotherapy, mental health, public health nursing, and home and community care. The Centre has a 3 bed Emergency Room, an 18 bed residential care facility with 2 beds for Palliative Care (one doubling as respite care). Acute in-patient care and obstetrics are provided by physicians who practice at the Kootenay Lake Hospital one hour away. Lab and X-ray services are provided 2 days a week. Visiting health professionals include occupational therapy, a respiratory technician, a foot care nurse, a diabetes education nurse, a dental hygienist, and a dietician.



This part-time (.33 - .50 fte) salaried position can be combined with other current opportunities such as a contract to conduct Geriatric Assessments in the same region, and/or to lead the Eating Disorder Multidisciplinary Clinic. Other general and subspecialty part-time options are also available.



Kaslo is a picturesque community where outdoor adventure options are virtually limitless. Drive times to major centres are: 1 hour to Nelson, 1.5 hours to the airport in Castlegar, and 5 hours to Kelowna.

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Emergency experience
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
    Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Rural Incentives include:

Recruitment bonus: $ 20,000 (if full-time)

Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location

Fee Premium: 22.82%

Annual Retention: enter $ 26,269.08 amount (based on full-time)

Rural CME funding support: to max of $5,720 after 4 years.



Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.



Candidates with a BC or Canada student loan may be eligible for loan forgiveness programs.






Victorian Community Health Centre:

The Victorian Community Health Centre is a 20-bed, multidisciplinary public clinic offering a variety of services in one location.  This community is supported by the High Acuity Response Team (HART) - an advanced level of support allows the physician to stay in the community while critically ill patients are transported by a team of specialists.
