Practice Details:

We have an ideal FP Emergency Medicine opportunity in Salmon Arm! Our current vacancy could be filled by a candidate interested in full time Emergency work, or interested in part time Emergency work plus part time community work in a choice of clinics. Our busy Emergency is well staffed and we see a wide variety of presentations, include a moderate amount of trauma from boating, highway, ski hill accidents. We are supported by General surgeons, Anesthetists, Radiologists and Internists. Typically the high-level trauma is diverted to one of the larger hospitals nearby. CCFP-EM or experience would be welcome but we also have experience in mentoring new graduates. The successful candidate should have their ATLS, ACLS and PALS; we highly recommend also having a basic Ultrasound course.

We are a collegial team and while we plan day/night shifts equally, there is some capacity to accommodate special requests with the help of our scheduler and using an on line schedule system. There are opportunities to pick up extra shifts. We currently have 4 shifts: 8:00-5:00, 1:00-8:00, 4:00-11:00, and 11:00-8:00. In addition to Fee for Service, we have MOCAP funding for after hour shift hours, and we have REEF (Rural Enhanced Emergency funding) to help us compensate for some services. For REEF details please enquire since funding can be redirected to other priorities periodically. Due to the busy nature of the ER, we are invariably always on site during a shift, but on overnight shifts, it is mandatory that you be on site.
